3 Free And Useful Software Uninstallers For Windows

19 April 2012 No Comment

The extensibility of Windows comes with the fact that we can install an unlimited number of software and applications in Windows. There is a huge (almost uncountable) list of software apps that have been designed to run on Windows. You can find almost any kind of utility which will make your work easier.  The question is that is it fine to only install the software? The answer is an absolute NO! This is because of several reasons. The installed software will keep accumulating the space in the hard drive and ultimately the hard drive will be short of space. Most of the installed software also keep their data in Windows Registry. The Windows Registry can also pile up in size and get fragmented by the passage of time.

Windows comes with its own Software management apps which can be used to uninstall installed software. The tool was called “Add/Remove Programs” in Windows XP and earlier versions of Windows. From Windows Vista onwards, the tool was renamed to “Programs and Features”. Sometimes the built in Windows software management tool will not do advanced stuff like completely removing the software from the hard drive as well as Windows Registry. If the software was deleted manually, the Windows “Programs and Features” tool will not allow the removal of the entry from its list. To go advanced in this regard, we list down a few third party software uninstaller apps for Windows which can be an advanced alternative to the built-in uninstaller tool.

Revo Uninstaller

Revo Uninstaller is the most popular free third party tool which can be used as an alternative to “Programs and Features” app in Windows. The program is very easy to use and comes with some very useful options not to be found anywhere else. The best feature of Revo Uninstaller is the “forced uninstall” function. This option will forcefully delete all the files and registry entries of a software. This option can be handy in situations like the software uninstall was unsuccessful or the software had left files which were not deleted by the standard uninstaller.

Absolute Uninstaller

Absolute Uninstaller

Absolute Uninstaller is another software known for its fast and speedy uninstalls and auto-fixing of Program entries in the “Programs and Features” tool. Absolute Uninstaller can completely uninstall software. If the software has some leftover data in Windows, Absolute Uninstaller will wipe it from the hard drive. Absolute Uninstaller searches for invalid entries in the hard drive, Windows Registry and Start Menu. It also removes broken shortcuts of the uninstalled software.

SlimComputer

SlimComputer

SlimComputer is yet another tool for the same task, uninstalling software and keeping your computer clean. SlimComputer is different in the sense that it can detect the unwanted software that was already installed when you bought the computer. The software which comes pre-installed with a new PC is usually termed as bloatware and is usually not required by the user but consumes the resources of the computer. SlimComputer can get rid of the bloatware sotware by automatically detecting and uninstalling it. The best feature of SlimComputer is its community rating system. One can easily guess if the software is useful or not by analyzing the rating given by SlimComputer community.
