China Unicom to sell Apple iPhones in China from Oct. 1
Technology.am (Sept. 29, 2009) — China Unicom is going to sell Apple Inc’s iPhone in China for 5,000 yuan or $732.50and it will be available from 1st October.
China Unicom has made a three-year deal with Apple last month, to bring the iPhone to China’s 700 million mobile subscribers. A majority of users in china still use 2G services.
Eight service packages being offered by Unicom, which ranges from 126 yuan to 886 yuan per month. The company would provide subsidies of 893 yuan to 4,253 yuan for people who sign up for the plans.
Unicom rival China Telecom has already said it would increase its own handset subsidies to 37 percent of wireless revenues, from 30 percent.
