Digg Lets Users Vote On Ads
Technology.am (Aug. 8, 2009) — Digg, a social news website is rolling out a beta of its new ad voting system that will let users vote advertisements up or down just as they do for original content.
Digg allows users to submit content, which is then voted up or down by the member community. The more positive votes – or Diggs – a story gets, the higher it moves on Digg.com. Digg Ads will work in a similar fashion for ads.
The ads will look and feel similar to the Digg content you see everyday – stories, video trailers, independent product reviews – but will be clearly marked as sponsored. The more votes an ad gets, the less the advertiser will have to pay for placing that ad. It means this system relies on user interaction to adjust the price according to how many up or down votes an ad has.
For Digg users, they get control not only of the stories that are hitting the front page, but also the ads that appear on it.
