Google Voice: Coming Soon
Technology.am (Apr. 5, 2009) — Google Voice is a service that gives you one number for all your phones, voicemail that is easy as email, and many enhanced calling features like call blocking and screening, voicemail transcripts, call conferencing, international calls, and more. And lest we forget, Google Voice will be a free service.

Google Voice is available now but only for existing GrandCentral users but will be open to new users soon.
With Google Voice, you’ll get all your voicemails in one place, saved for as long as you want. If you don’t answer a call to your Google number, your callers will be sent to your Google voicemail. You can check messages by calling your Google number, by signing in to Google Voice, or by opting in to receive notifications.
Google Voice will have the following cool features:
- Call record – Record calls and store them online
- Call switch – Switch phones during a call.
- Conference calling – Join people into a single call.
- Mobile site – View your inbox from your mobile.
- GOOG-411 – Check directory assistance.
- Manage groups – Set preferences by group

Gee, you don’t suppose they will record, index and store all this only to hand it over to the highest bidder when it suits them?
Let’s hand over our entire lives to one corporation.
Sounds like a great idea.
For a tragedy.
