SolarCity has announced the installation of charging stations along highway 101 between San Francisco and Los Angeles. There are four chargers arrayed along the stretch of highway and are located in Salinas, Atascadero, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo.

All of the charging stations produce 240V at 70 amps beating Eberhard’s Roadster Foundry Mobile Connector (or RFMC) rapid charger and will charge the Tesla Roadster to full capacity in 3.5 hours at this time.

Tesla recently shipped its 700th Roadster and is one of the best known names in electric vehicles. The car can go from 0 to 100 kmh in 3.7 seconds. Currently, the Roadsters retail for a base price of $109,000.

SolarCity plans to refit the charge stations in the near future to work with all electric vehicles.
