Samsung’s 1GHz chip may come to Next Gen iPhone

Technology.am (July 28, 2009) — Samsung and Intrinsity have announced one of the fastest low-power chip designs to date.
The new Samsung-Intrinsity chip, code-named “Hummingbird,” this new chip is designed with smartphones in mind as it balances power consumption and high clock speeds. Typically, the smaller the chip’s geometries, the faster and more power efficient it is.

Universal to release first Blu-ray iPhone app with Fast & Furious

Technology.am (July 22, 2009) — Universal Studios plans to launch the first iPhone app to control Blu-ray features in upcoming Blu-ray releases starting with the two-disc Special Edition release of Fast & Furious for $39.99 on July 28.

Island Wall Entertainment Launches ‘Purity Ring’ iPhone App

Technology.am (July 15, 2009) — The Island Wall Entertainment launches an iPhone app to help people to stay chaste until marriage.
Consumers can download an app at just 59p and it lets them to take a purity pledge and then display a silver ring on their phone to prove their commitment to abstinence.
The company claims the product will appeal to the younger generation and those people who have not already committed themselves to a life of abstinence and chastity.

iPhone 3GS raises YouTube mobile uploads 400 per cent

Technology.am (June 28, 2009) — Apple’s iPhone 3GS device, newly fitted with video recording technology, allows users to upload their videos wirelessly to the YouTube over 3G phone networks.
The number of videos filmed on mobile phones uploaded to YouTube has risen 400 per cent since last week, due to the release of Apple’s iPhone 3GS.
The 3GS is the new, faster version of Apple’s popular iPhone, with a video camera, more memory and a slew of new features. The ‘S’ in the phone’s title stands for speed.

UK ATMs set to offer WiFi access, free for BT and iPhone Users

Technology.am (June 28, 2009) — Cash machine company Cashbox, which is associated with the fee-charging ATMs found in pubs and shops, has signed a deal with BT to turn some of their cash-points into Wi-Fi hotspots on the Openzone network.
Cashbox has 2,500 cash-points in the UK and almost all 2,500 ATM machines will soon be converted to serve as free WiFi hotspots for BT Broadband customers and UK iPhone users on O2.

iJector: “Mobile Theater Projector and Stereo Speaker” for your ipod and iphone

Technology.am (June 25, 2009) — Japanese company Lancerlink announced the iJector [JP], an LCOS projector that you can use with your iPod or iPhone.
Its shape is like a dock, and making it possible to watch video stored on your iPod on the go via its built-on stereo speakers. The projector features 20 lumens brightness and comes with a lamp that has a life span of 30,000 hours.

Apple’s Wet iPhone Replacement Plan

Technology.am (May 7, 2009) — The iPhone is supersensitive to sweat and steam. Moisture from your shower can also cause an iPhone to stop working. Apple this week introduced a wet iPhone replacement plan.
