To our surprise, some Indian beauties have marked their presence in the global modeling scene with their alluring looks and striking personalities.

When she won the American pageant in the year 2008, her long-cherished dream was realized. Right from childhood, titles like Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants captivated her and she used to say to herself ‘’one day I will be on that stage’’. She is the first Indian to achieve this title of American pageant 2008. She sees it not only as a contest that offers career and fame but also as an opportunity to express her personality and the best way to gain confidence.

Liza Golden

She was a normal girl, who aspired to become veterinarian or dentist, but a modeling contest changed her destiny that transformed her in to a hot model. She is now the latest Indian-American model who is the face of popular brand Lakme. She also does modeling for popular brands like Esprit, Pantaloons, Talwarson Jewelers, Azara and for many other top beauty and fashion magazines.

Shazia Deen

This girl of sharp looks loved the modeling career with passion and one of her friends said on her successful career in modeling thus: “You always used to talk about running off and becoming a Model or Actress….and look…You did it”. Shazia has posed for 15 national commercials and ad campaigns for various prominent companies such as Skechers, Kodak, Nike, Hanes, Payless and Diet Coke. Her love for the profession does not end there; she also does mini screen shows like the Andy Dick Show and has been learning performing arts right from her childhood.

Saira Mohan

Saira entered the world of modeling at the age of 13, after she won the Elite Look-Of-The-Year contest at a mall inLos Angeles. This Canadian fashion model was in the list of ‘Hot 100 Women of 2002’ by Maxim. She has also modeled for the covers of popular magazines such as ELLE, Cosmopolitan, L’Officiel and Town and Country. She appeared on Newsweek, as “The Perfect Face”, and that transformed her in to an internationally acclaimed model.

Anchal Joseph

This beauty with a perfect shape has been consecutively elected as “the cover girl of the week” at theAmerica’s Next Top Model. The judges became so impressed with this and according to them she is one of the most beautiful girls they have ever come across in any competition. She has been regarded as the most charming and sexiest model with a great body. Popular magazines like the French Vogue and Zoom have featured her.

Melanie Kannokada

Melanie is not only an exotic model, but also a philanthropist. She is the current face of a global cosmetics brand, Bare Escentuals International. This former Miss Indian-American left her corporate job and embraced modeling with all her heart. She has modeled for many popular brands including NesCafe, Crocs, Acura, Herbal Essences, LG, DSW, and Verizon. She is also an actress and she plays the title role in the upcoming comedy drama, Love Lies and Seeta, which tells the story of an Indian girl adopted by parents fromAmerica.

Padma Lakshmi

Padma Lakshmi is an Indian American cookbook author, actress, model and television host.  She says “I was the first Indian model to have a career in Paris, Milan and New York. I’m the first one to admit that I was a novelty” Her debut cookbook Easy Exotic won her the “Best First Book” award at the 1999 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Lakshmi’s career began at age of 18, in her college years she was discovered by a modeling agent in Madrid, Spain, while sitting in a café. She has modeled for top designers such as Emanuel Ungaro, Ralph Lauren and Alberta Ferratti and has appeared on the covers of RedBook, VogueIndia, FHM, Cosmopolitan, L’Officiel India, Asian Woman, Avenue, Industry Magazine, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country and Newsweek.

Sonia Dara

Sonia is the first Indian American to have featured in the top-selling Sports Illustrated swimsuit copy, along with super models Bar Refaeli and Brooklyn Decker.  Her beauty, intellect and poise have won her Elite Atlanta and later, Elite New York. She also appeared on the covers of Cosmo Girl, Seventeen, and VogueIndia. According to her, “I posed for these shots as elegantly and as tastefully as possible, and I hope that I made not only my loved ones and friends proud, but also the Indian-Americans who have seen the SI spread’’.

Hannah Simone

Hannah is a Canadian television host, actress, and former fashion model. She stepped in to the modeling by appearing in a local fashion magazine at the age of 13. Even though, she has hosted many radio and television shows, what made her popular was her role ‘Cece’ in ‘New Girl’. Apart from being a busy, hot model she also does charity works and many other social services.

Rhona Mitra

Rhona is an American actress, singer and model. Her father is of Bengali Indian and English descent, and her mother Irish. The year 2001 was the golden period in her modeling career, where she devoted the entire year for modeling, keeping aside Hollywood projects. Moreover, she was ranked 46 in Maxim’s ‘100 hot women 2001’ list. Sultry voice and her long, dark hair are her highlights.
