Top 5 Smartphones to Beat the iPhone 5

17 September 2012 No Comment

So… the iPhone 5 was finally announced. Some people (especially Apple fans) were delighted, others were a bit disappointed – after all, the new iPhone is bigger than the old ones, it’s more powerful and armed with better specs, but it doesn’t have any revolutionary or shocking feature. So geeks are wondering if it’ll be able to become one of the best-selling devices on the market, just like its predecessors. I guess it won’t be that easy for the new Apple iPhone to conquer a huge market share this time, since there’s so much competition out there. Let’s see which phones can beat the iPhone 5.

1. Samsung Galaxy S3

The first and the most serious competitor of the new iPhone 5 is of course the Samsung Galaxy S3, which has successfully replaced its predecessor and was recognized as one of the most powerful smartphones on the market. It was launched several months ago, but it doesn’t mean it has become too old – 20 million units of the Galaxy S3 were sold in 100 days, which is close to the number of all iPhones sold in the same period of time. Plus the Galaxy S3 has everything a smartphone user can ever need – stylish looks, a fast quad-core processor, a powerful 2100mAh battery and the latest version of Android with TouchWiz Nature UX. So can it beat the iPhone 5? Of course it can!

2. HTC One X

The HTC One X was released around the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S3, but it’s still one of the most popular phones on the market. It’s armed with a 4.7-inch display and a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, so in terms of performance it has no equals. Plus it has a very competitive price, too, especially if bought on contract. So the chances are high that a person will prefer the cheaper HTC One X to the much more expensive iPhone 5, especially when they have almost the same specs.

3. Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD

The next competitor of the iPhone 5 is my personal favorite, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD. Though its processor is a dual-core one, it doesn’t mean it’s slower or worse than those quad-cores, and its super-clear 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED display is also one of its most important selling points. However, the most attractive feature of the Droid Razr Maxx HD is the 3300mAh battery, which is the biggest smartphone battery at the moment. Many first-time smartphone users buy the Droid Razr Maxx HD because of this battery – they want their smartphones to last longer than 1 day.

4. Nokia Lumia 920

According to WPCentral’s latest survey, the Nokia Lumia 920 is the most wanted Windows Phone 8-based device at the moment. Attractive eye-popping design, a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, a 4.5-inch touchscreen with 768 x 1280 pixels resolution and the revolutionary PureView technology used in its 8MP camera – what else does a future best-seller need?

5. Sony Xperia T

The fifth phone that can easily compete with the iPhone 5 is Sony’s new Xperia T. Armed with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, a 13MP camera (!) and Android 4 ICS, it’s one of the best phones in Sony’s Xperia line and it’s definitely one of the best phones on the market. People who want a phone with a good camera and strict design will no doubt prefer the Xperia T over the new iPhone 5.
