Windows Phone 8: the real offensive of Microsoft?

In a presentation dedicated to its partners, Microsoft has revealed more details about the next generation of Windows Phone.

The next edition of Microsoft’s mobile system, named Apollo, will enable manufacturers to increase the physical characteristics of smartphones. In addition to support for multiple screen sizes, these devices may be multi-core. The objective is to rank better in competition. Moreover the Windows Phone will support the NFC wireless links whose virtual wallet can be personalized by the telephone.

With regard to mobile applications, Microsoft has explained that the code of these will be very close to those concocted for the interface on Windows 8 Metro including kernel-level, the connectivity layer, security or multimedia support. A new module would communicate with the Zune software on Windows 8, which also host a new Xbox Companion application. The management of SkyDrive allow the direct exchange of files between different devices without having to go through a computer. Note that, like Opera Mini or Skyfire, Internet Explorer 10 for his benefit from compression of the pages on Microsoft’s servers.

According to reports, Windows Phone 8 with developers will be able to develop native applications more efficient and therefore, the opportunity for publishers to port their games originally designed for iOS and Android. The NFC should allow direct interactions between mobile applications and the Skype client would present a more integrated system with an interface identical to the traditional telephony module.

On a professional level, Windows Phone 8 embark a new layer of encryption and businesses would be able to deploy their internal applications.
