Yahoo Unveils Search Pad, Your Online Personal Research Assistant
Technology.am (July 8, 2009) — Yahoo plans to launch a new tool, the Yahoo Search Pad that lets people capture, organize, save and share information they find while researching online. This Yahoo Search Pad adds real value to search.
The Yahoo Search Pad will automatically save search results when it notices the user is doing research. This Search Pad provides a new search experience that is especially valuable for people conducting extensive research in categories such as academic, health, jobs, travel, or shopping.
Google Notebook and JetEye require intent on the part of the user. They save nothing without the user asking for it to be saved. On the other hand Yahoo Search Pad watches what the user does.
According to Yahoo VP of Consumer Experience Larry Cornett, “Yahoo Search Pad uses deep science to recognize when someone is doing research.”
If you’re searching a car, it will notice that you’re clicking a lot of links, create a written record for you in the background, and start to catalog your search results.
The entries that Yahoo Search Pad saves can be added to with text, or deleted, moved, printed, or e-mailed, making a well-stocked “pad” a potentially very useful reference even when a user is not on the Yahoo search site.
