Apple reports its most profitable quarter yet; net jumps to 47% (Oct 20, 2009) — Technology giant Apple just reported an enormous 47% jump in its net profit at $1.67 billion for the fourth quarter, its “most profitable quarter ever”, motivated by testimonial sales of Smartphone iPhone and Mac computers.

For the complete year ended September 26, 2009, Apple reported about a 12% growth in its revenue and about an 18% increment in its net income in such “extremely demanding times”.

“We are delighted with our September quarter and fiscal 2009 results,” Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer said in an announcement.

Revenue in the fourth quarter increased to $9.87 billion from about $7.9 billion in the same time last year.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said “We are delighted to have sold more Macs and iPhones than in any earlier quarter. We’ve got a very strong line up for the holiday season and some really great new products in the pipeline for 2010.”

The company said it has reported it’s “most profitable quarter ever”, and expects the impetus to prolong foretelling an optimistic management for the next quarter.

Throughout the fourth quarter, Apple sold 3.05 million Macintosh computers, dazzling a 17 per cent rise over the year-ago time. It sold 7.4 million iPhones in the quarter, an increase of 7 per cent over the similar quarter previous year.
