Britain Police Forces Uses YouTube to Catch Criminals

Technology.am (May 15, 2009) — The first time police force in Britain posted CCTV images of a suspect on YouTube.

policeOfficers in Devon and Cornwall posted the video on the website to appeal for witnesses and identify a man accused of assault.

A woman was grabbed by a man from behind in Plymouth, Devon. She managed to struggle free and suffered no physical injuries as a result. The police say they hope YouTube will help trace the man.

A police spokesman said: “The victim, a woman in her twenties and from Plymouth, was in the subway near the A386.

The CCTV shows the suspect walking towards the scene along the A386 towards the city centre. The man was wearing a waterproof navy blue top with the hood up. He is described as white, about 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall and of slim build and had either ginger or light brown hair.
