The IFA, said to be the world’s largest electronics trade show, has once again become the arena for the unveiling of the latest gadgets by some of the electronics giants from around the world. Although Apple did not participate in the event, tech lovers present at the event certainly enjoyed the sights of some cool gadgets from other companies been shown off. Let us take a look at some of the best gadgets that were unveiled at the event which was dominated by Sony. Some of these latest techs might end up with you in the very near future.
Sony Tablet S
All the tablet makers from around the world are finding it hard to become good rivals to Apple. But this new tablet could be trouble for the iPad. The Tablet S is very beautiful, and it has been designed like a folded newspaper. The device, which comes equipped with a 9.4 inch display, is designed in such a way that the weight is centred on one edge. This makes it easier to hold. The device also comes with some awesome features. It can be used as a remote control for your TV, Sky box or hi-fi, and you can also play some early PlayStation games on it. The device will be available later this month.
Samsung Galaxy Note
They are still calling it a smartphone although it comes with a massive 5.3 inch display. The display, which is awesome for watching movies on the go, is pin-sharp and gloriously colourful. This amazing display when combined with the front-facing camera makes it good for video calls. The device also comes equipped with an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a stylus for annotating documents or images. The device is expected to be released in late 2011, but the company is yet to release the price of the device.
Sharp 8K4K TV
The 8K4K TV from Sharp is not on sale from the company, but still we can’t go without enjoying its features. It has a massive 80 inch display. That is not very surprising though, because the company has gone bigger than this earlier. But the important thing to note about this new display is its resolution. You must know that a full HD screen manages 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. But this new giant comes with a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320. The image that you get as a result is shockingly sharp, and every object viewed on the screen is rich, realistic and jaw-droppingly detailed.
Native Union Play Video memo pad
Although the use of a simple piece of paper and a magnet can convey a message on a fridge, this new device can help you to go a step further by adding emotions into your message. The Native Union memo pad comes with a front-facing camera and microphone so you can record a video message. The message can be up to three minutes long. The device, which sticks to the fridge, comes with a small LCD screen and the device’s battery lasts for three hours. It will be available later this month.
LG PenTouch TV
This latest innovation is interesting. It lets you write on the big screen, although not directly. The PenTouch is a stylus which gives you a feeling that you are drawing directly on to the screen or display photos or video games from your PC on the telly. It will be available later this month.
Toshiba 55ZL2 glasses-free 3D TV
As you might agree, the most annoying thing while watching 3D content is the glasses. Toshiba’s new TV will help you to throw away the glasses. This can be done all thanks to the display’s full HD resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. A camera which has been placed below the screen works out where you are sitting to create sweet spots for multiple viewers. But you should know that the new screen is not flawless, yet it is a good start. It will be available in December or January, for an unannounced price. Definitely won’t be cheap.
Philips Fidelio AS851 Android speaker dock
You don’t have to search endlessly for a dock if you are an iPhone user. There are numerous ones available on the market at the moment. But that is not the case for an Android user. And every phone is different also. But Philips appears to have solved that problem with its new gadget. The Philips Fidelio AS851 Android speaker dock uses a movable connector so you can slide, twist and nudge it into place. The phone will be held upright also, so you will be able to read the screen comfortably. The music plays via Bluetooth using a dedicated Android app and it has superb sound quality also. The device will be on sale next month.
Sony PRS-T1 Reader Wi-Fi
This new ebook reader from Sony is very light and it comes equipped with a 6 inch screen. The device is glare-free and is easy to read in the brightest sunlight. The device has a touchscreen and it comes with pinch-to-zoom. The device also comes with Wi-Fi, which will allow you to easily download titles from the Sony Reader store. It will be available from October onwards.
Sony HMZ-T1 Personal 3D viewer
With Sony’s new 3D headset, you will be able to watch 3D movies from a Blu-ray player and enjoy PlayStation 3D gaming as well as home movies. Although the screens are less than an inch in diameter, they are super-sharp and clear. And just to let you know, the sound from the headphones is loud. The device will be available in November.
Samsung Multiview MV800 camera
Taking self-portraits have always been difficult. Earlier Samsung had helped a bit by launching cameras which featured a small front-facing display. But now, the company has gone one better. The new MV800, which is a 16 megapixel camera, has a conventional 3 inch LCD screen on the back that flips through 180 degrees. The camera also has a touchscreen interface and it’s all in a sleek, slim case. It will be available on sale later this year for an unknown price.
So, which device will you be playing with in the near future?
