Google Labs: News Timeline (Apr. 21, 2009) — Google’s News Timeline, allows people browse history, with a sliding chronological order that draws information from newspapers, magazines, movies, Wikipedia, and other sources.

google timeline“You can see how your subject evolves over time,” Hertzfeld said, added that the history goes back as far as the 1400s.

This new Google Labs feature, which organizes news stories and other information by date, you can click a time category to zoom from year to month to week to day, and double-click to back out as far as a decade-level view, there is no time waste since we all spent hours exploring the globe with Google Earth.

In addition to searching the Google News database, you can search through content from specific blogs, magazines and newspapers.

The interface requires people to select what type of information they’re seeking–newspapers, music, movies, prizes, blogs, and more.
