Technology.am (Sept. 12, 2009) — The solar powered CPU that will consume 70% less energy is being developed by a consortium of seven Japanese companies.
The main idea behind this move is to lessen the dependence on foreign technologies. This is going to be a challenge for AMD and Intel.
Seven Japanese companies are Toshiba, Fujitsu, Canon, Panasonic, Hitachi, NEC and Renesas.
The project is being funded by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The entire project is has a budget of $ 32.5 million to 43.4 million.
