Palm Pre to Hit Sprint Stores for $199.99 Starting June 6

Technology.am (May 20, 2009) — The telecommunications company, Sprint has officially announced the much anticipated touch screen Palm Pre smartphone will start selling for $199 after a $100 rebate and a 2-year contract.

palm_pre_phoneIt will be available at Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack and select Wal-Mart stores starting June 6, 2009, based on the new Palm webOS mobile platform, enabling users to bring their personal and professional calendar, contacts as well as e-mail together for one centralized view.

“The argument that you need one phone for work and another phone for play, or that you have to make compromises between business and lifestyle productivity, is over,” said Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint. “With Pre, compromises of the past are history.”

“Pre is truly a new phone for a new web-centric age,” said Ed Colligan, president and CEO of Palm.

In addition, the innovative Touchstone Charging Kit which Sprint claims as the first inductive charging solution for phones will be available on June 6 for $69.99.

While the Pre is a touchscreen device, like the iPhone and Storm, it also features a full slide-out keyboard. It can also open several screens or programs at once.
