Top 10 Most Dangerous Foods in the World

Hitherto, all foods were hygienic and healthy. But today, foods are sprinkled with preservatives and artificial colors to attract people. For business strategies, many foods are infested with hormones, toxic herbicides and insecticides. We are forced to eat the food we see in the grocery stores even if we know that it is harmful for our health. Some are latently more dangerous than others. Other dangerous foods we have to avoid are genetically modified ones. Unknowingly, we are plugging our guts with toxic and contaminated foods.   

 

Hot Dog

Hot Dog is very popular in many parts of the world. But recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics says that hotdogs can cause choking hazard to children, so it should come with a warning label. It even demanded that the hot dogs should be redesigned.

Fugu

Fugu is the Japanese dish made of poisonous puffer fish. The intestines, ovaries and liver of Fugu contain a poison called tetrodotoxin. The strangest fact is that it is 1,200 times deadlier than cyanide. Only expert chefs can prepare this dish. The chefs must undergo two or three years of training to obtain the license for Fugu cooking.

Ackee

Ackee fruit is the national fruit ofJamaica. For them, it is a mixed blessing. If it is not properly eaten ackee can cause the Jamaican Vomiting Sickness. The condition can lead to coma or death. Unripe ackee fruit is filled with a poison named hypoglycin.

Peanut Panic

We all love peanuts and eat that very good source of monounsaturated fats. It is one little deadly nut which causes peanut allergy. Don’t take it lightly; it is the most common cause of food-allergy deaths.

Leafy Greens

Leafy Greens are considered as nutritional powerhouses. But, Center for Science in the Public Interest has listed leafy greens like spinach, lettuce, cabbage, arugula and kale as the riskiest foods of 2009. The group has recognized 363 different outbreaks linked to these veggies last year.

Rhubarb which is also known as pie plant plays a significant role in pastries. A medicinal history of the plant originating in Asia reveals that the leaves of the plant can cause poisoning.  We should avoid cooked or raw leaves.

 

Tuna Tremors

Tuna, which is one of the most popular fish in the world, has but a mixed reputation. A 2004 US government advisory cautions pregnant women and young children against eating too much of the white variety of the fish as the fish contain high mercury levels which will cause damage to the unborn or fetus’s nervous system.

 

Cassava

Cassava is a pudding favorite which is made from the roots of the plant. In America, it is known as tapioca. If it is improperly prepared, it can produce cyanide, a deadly poison. Some are allergic to the plant as well.

 Coffee

Coffee has many known side effects like heart rate, trouble sleeping and discoloration of teeth. But it has much more deadly consequence which can be called as burned-crotch effect or the java jump and jive. When the hot coffee hits your laps, you will find nothing to end the pain.

Mushrooms

Despite its mouthwatering taste, it can kill. Varieties like the Death Cap, Destroying Angels and Deadly Webcap are highly poisonous and capable of inducing death.
